Dalimss Sunbeam has two CBSE campuses: Rohania in Varanasi, from Playgroup to Class XII as a day school and with boarding, and NTPC Tanda in Ambedkar Nagar, a day school up to Class XII. This page explains, in plain words, what to check in a CBSE school and how to choose.
What CBSE means for a parent
CBSE is India's national board. Schools follow the NCERT syllabus, children sit board exams in Class X and Class XII, and the same syllabus is the base for JEE, NEET and CUET. Because CBSE is the same in every state, it is also the easy choice for families who may move cities.
CBSE is not the right board for every child, and the name of the board is only the start. What matters more is how the school teaches, how it treats the average child and not only its toppers, and whether it can take your child all the way to Class XII. Our guide to choosing a school in Varanasi lists the questions worth asking.
How to check a CBSE school yourself
- Search the school on the CBSE SARAS directory (saras.cbse.gov.in). Every affiliated school has a public record.
- Look at the level. Secondary means the school is affiliated up to Class X. Senior Secondary means up to Class XII.
- Check that the name and address on the record match the campus you are visiting. In Varanasi several schools share similar names, so compare the address, not just the name.
- Ask the school for its affiliation number and its Class X and Class XII results.
Rohania: CBSE from Playgroup to Class XII, with boarding
Dalimss Sunbeam Rohania is opposite Rohania Thana on the G.T. Road, about 6 km from Varanasi Cantt station. It is CBSE affiliated at Senior Secondary level, so a child can stay from Playgroup to Class XII on one campus. The campus also holds permanent BSA recognition for the pre-primary to Class VIII years.
Rohania is also our boarding school. The hostel is on the same campus as the school, with separate hostels for boys and girls and wardens day and night, so boarders and day scholars share the same classrooms and teachers. See Boarding at Rohania.
Recognition: at the Education World India School Rankings 2026-27 (Pullman, Aerocity, Delhi, 23 and 24 October 2026), Dalimss Sunbeam School & Hostel, Rohania received the Co-ed Day cum Boarding School award, Uttar Pradesh #5 and Varanasi #3. EducationWorld's 18 October 2026 article ranks Dalimss Sunbeam Rohania No. 47 in India among co-ed day-cum-boarding schools, up from No. 66. All awards are on our Awards page.
Class XI: an entrance test and an interview, then a stream choice. Ask us on your visit which streams are open for 2027-28.
Principal: Ms. Gurmeet Kaur. Campus phone: +91 99184 01619. Living nearby? Read the Rohania area guide.
NTPC Tanda: a CBSE day school in Ambedkar Nagar
Dalimss Sunbeam NTPC Tanda is at Vidyut Nagar, NTPC Tanda, Ambedkar Nagar, outside Varanasi city. It is affiliated to CBSE, affiliation number 2130464, which you can check on the CBSE SARAS directory, and classes run up to Class XII. It suits families on the NTPC township and nearby. See the NTPC Tanda area guide.
If you are weighing CBSE against Cambridge
Our other Varanasi campuses are not CBSE. Sigra (Playgroup to Class VIII) and Dalimss Sunbeam Global School, Ramkatora (Playgroup to Class X) follow the Cambridge curriculum, and Paharia and Mahmoorganj are state board (BSA) campuses up to Class VIII. Our guide to Cambridge schools in Varanasi explains the difference. Ask us on your visit how a move between campuses works for your child.
How to apply for 2027-28
- Pick the campus: Rohania for Varanasi, as a day scholar or a boarder, or NTPC Tanda for the township.
- Book a visit on the Admissions page or on the campus page. The admissions desk confirms the day by phone or WhatsApp.
- Visit on a normal school day. Look into a class, meet the principal and, for boarding, see the hostel.
- Ask for the 2027-28 fee card and the registration steps in writing.
