MatheGenius Hackathon:
Code for Kashi.

90 young coders and AI builders from 20 schools across Varanasi came to Dalimss Sunbeam School Sigra with one brief: build school management software, and make it open source so any school can take it, adapt it and improve it.

A real problem, handed to students.

Running 27 schools means living with school software every day. A school's needs can change in a week, while software can take months to catch up. So instead of trying yet another platform, Dalimss Sunbeam Group of Schools put the problem in front of the people who spend every day inside schools: students.

The brief was simple and demanding. Build a working school management system, and release it as open source, so that it does not belong to one school but can be picked up, changed and improved by any school that needs it.

What the students did.

Working in teams, the students planned, coded and tested their systems, then took the stage to demo dashboards, explain their choices and answer the jury's questions. They took on a bigger challenge than the one they were given: not just better software for our schools, but something any school can make its own.

We are proud of every participant from all 20 schools for the ideas, the teamwork and the courage to present live code in front of a full room.

Thank you, Team Sigra.

A big thank you to the principal, teachers and staff of Dalimss Sunbeam School Sigra, who organised and hosted the hackathon and looked after 90 visiting students and their teachers through the event.

Part of a family of schools in Varanasi since 1972, Dalimss Sunbeam keeps looking for ways to let students learn by building things that matter.
